Nomination Day

Whoever said that the citizens of this country were not interested in politics... yesterday was Nomination Day... and I think it has been the buzz topic of the day in every street corner. Just happened to get off work at a decent hour yesterday, and like EVERYONE around me, was trying to get hold of a copy of the paper so as to see the nominations!

Kudos to the opposition for finally being able to field more than half the seats, and for having sorted out their differences and avoiding a three way fight. I am finally interested in attending some rallies this time round. Just think it would be interesting to hear about the topics of concern from both the ruling party and the opposition. Never since JC GP lessons have I been so interested in our little country's political environment.

Hmmm... wonder if the turn out this year will be an indication of things to come? After all, we do seem to be getting a high number of young candidates on both sides this time round... mayhaps, we are paying more attention to our environment after all?

Just got back from the workers party rally. Incredible atmosphere, not as gung ho as the last elections but an extremely smooth political discussion and presentation of the issues at hand and, finally, a detailed workplan for the WP to challenge the Pap on issues.

Very interesting strategy by the opposition this time round. Also nice to vote for people you actually know as well. Heh.
